Invited to the International NGO Forum on Indonesian Development (INFID), on 31 October 2023, FIHRRST led a discussion regarding the new Presidential Decree Number 60 Year 2023 on Business and Human Rights Strategy, in which 30 civil society groups participated.

INFID seeks to give civil society representatives a platform to exchange information on the most recent effective business and human rights practices in Indonesia. The discussion's goal was to educate Indonesia's civil societies on what has to be done in the wake of the new decree. In order to push businesses to become more inclusive, the discussion also sought to serve as a forum for fostering collaboration amongst civil society.

The discussion was opened by INFID Program Officer Human Rights and Democracy, Mr. Ari Wibowo, with an introduction to the new Presidential Decree. Following Mr. Wibowo was Mr. Unang Mulkhan, FIHRRST’s Senior BHR Specialist, who provided a more in depth discussion on the decree with a focus on Indonesia’s national strategy on business and human rights. Subsequently, Mr. Unang led a conversation about the appropriate course of action for civil society to advocate for both business and human rights. This included overseeing a preliminary drafting of a proposed course of action.

It is hoped that the presidential decree's release and discussions within civil society will result in more inclusive business practices among Indonesia's corporations, particularly with regard to business and the advancement of human rights.
